  • Warm Mineral Springs is a unique natural attraction in North Port, Florida, known for its geological, archaeological, and purported therapeutic qualities. Location: 12200 San Servando Ave, North Port, FL. It is Florida’s only naturally occurring warm mineral spring open to the public and one of the largest natural mineral water springs globally, covering 1.4 acres with depths up to 250 feet. The spring is a water-filled sinkhole (cenote) formed over 30,000 years ago by the collapse of a subterranean cavern in limestone bedrock. Maintains a consistent year-round temperature of approximately 85°F (though heated to 97°F at depth, cooling as it rises). Contains an estimated 51 minerals, including magnesium, sulfate, and potassium, making it one of the highest mineral-content springs in the United States. The spring is fabled to be the “Fountain of Youth” sought by Juan Ponce de León, a claim popularized by a 1959 Cyclorama mural depicting his 1513 arrival in Florida. Purchased by Sarasota County and North Port in 2010.

  • CoolToday Park is located at 18800 S. West Villages Parkway, Venice, FL 34293 (within North Port’s Wellen Park), this state-of-the-art facility is the spring training home of the Atlanta Braves. It opened on March 24, 2019. It features an 8,000-seat stadium (6,200 fixed seats, 1,800 berm), a 90-acre training complex, six practice fields, and a Braves Academy for player development. The Braves moved to North Port from Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando to reduce travel times and be closer to other MLB teams’ facilities.

Hospitals

The Sarasota Memorial Hospital-North Port: The Sarasota County Public Hospital Board approved a $450 million plan in January 2025 to build North Port’s first acute-care hospital on a 32-acre site on North Sumter Boulevard near Interstate-75. This six-story, 100-bed facility is expected to break ground in 2025, with an estimated opening in fall 2028. It will include emergency, medical, surgical, and specialty care, a 60,000-square-foot medical office building, and a backup energy center. The hospital is designed to be hurricane-hardened and expandable to 208 beds in the future.
